Spiritual Love

One morning, on September 2, 2011, I woke up to go and prepare for my class in UP Diliman I had a class in sociology so I went straight to class and listened to the lecture which was about women’s right from being physically abused, sexually abused, prostituted, incested by brother, and being left behind. I kept yawning at the report. I went to my college library to leave my bag and then peeked in my classroom where I saw that I had no class for my next subject. I checked my schedule and saw that I needed a copy for my readings in my other class so I went to the College of Arts and Science where the copies are. While riding I was thinking about joining the UP fraternity. When I arrived I strolled around and followed the lighter path. I was also looking at the signs on the walls while walking and ended up pressing a light switch three times. I went near where the light bulb was and saw a sign saying “tara bible study tayo.” I looked up the stairs and saw three men with bowed down heads formed in a triangle. The three men were praying while holding their knees, Indian sitting on the floor. The guy in white asked me “Yes? Can we help you?” I said “Hi,” and he answered back, “Hello! can we help you?” I said, “Uhh, can I Join you?” “Sure, we’lI finish our prayers first. Ok?” I said, “Ok” and stood for a while and then asked them, “Should I stay here, or sit there?” pointing at my back. He said, “You can sit with us for a while, but let us finish our prayers first, ok?” I said, “Of course” and then I sat down and waited for them to finish their prayer. They were praying for the guy in my right, Mike, who, according to them, was troubled. After finishing their prayer the guy in white asked me, “So! What brought you here? Uhh, what is your name again?” I said “Uhh, David. Ay! Uh, o cge, King! King.” They seem to be puzzled and said, “Huh?” I said, “O cge, King David.” He said, “Ahh, si King David pala to e!” I said, “Huh? Bakit!?” He said “So King David, what brings you here?” I stopped for a while and then replied “Er, I was just strolling around” and looked at him. “Mhmm, So what brought you here? … Coz you seem to be a very spiritual guy” I stopped again, and then answered “naglalakad lang ako e,” He said they were a non threatening organization. I asked, “What is the name of your organization” he looked at his friends and said, “Still waters,” and then I remembered my friend, Ivy, who mentioned to me that she is a member of still waters. I said, “Ahh, si Ivy!” and then we talked about Ivy. They also mentioned Ivy was always with a certain guy. I asked for the name of the person I am talking with, but I cannot remember his name, though he introduced me to Christian, a guy in green with a dollar sign on his shirt, and Mike who wears a gray shirt. He asked me what religious group I was in. I said “Marami eh!” I said, “I’m a catholic, I am also a born again, and jesuit” He said “Jesuit? Di ba sa Ateneo yun?” I said I was a member of Knights of Columbus. He asked me if I was one of those Unification Methodists. I said I don’t know about that. He said, “So what can we do for you?” I said, “Uhh,” and cannot reply so he said “Coz, you seem to be a very spiritual guy.” I asked him, “Umm. Should we pray?” he said, “Sure,” “So what do you want to pray about?” I leaned backward and rested my hands on the floor. I said “Mmm. I don't know…” He said “Do you have any problems..?” I repeated, “Do I have any problems...” and then looked around. I saw the sign “tara bible study tayo.” and another sign “Stronger” then, I remembered my father. I said “uh, I want to pray for my father” he said “Why!? What happened to your father?” I remembered my father’s sickness. I said “He has prostrate… He’s sick. But the doctor says he’s good now… at least the doctor says.” We prayed on my lead, I prayed for my father and asked for help in our trials. After some more conversation; I took Mike’s number and fared well. That’s when I met Abigail Santos.
I strolled around some more and went to the museum of the university and saw a coffee shop. I chose between “kape amerikano” and cappuccino, asked for kape amerikano, but chose cappuccino instead. After I drank my coffee I rode a jeep.
I saw Abigail hailing the jeepney I was riding in UP Diliman. She was sober with liquor, and I just came from a prayer meeting. The first thing that came to my mind was to help her because she seemed out of balance. I glanced at her, and then she smiled back at me and blushed. The kind of smile that was cheerful yet shy. We both dropped off at the check point of UP where I also had a class and the jeepney will not pass. I asked her if she’s ok, but she cannot answer promptly and was swaying a little. I remembered the prayer we had where I asked for help in our trials and thought this was the test. That moment, I thought I needed to help her. We were standing at the check point. She cannot stand steadily. She said “Nasaan na tayo?” we had other conversations that was fast and as we talk more, the more we also understand each other. I asked her if she can carry herself but she cannot answer straightly. I thought of bringing her to her house but she can’t answer me where she lives. We sat down for a moment in the bench of the waiting shed. While waiting for a transport she said “Sorry ha. Sige, iwan mo na lang ako dito,” but I don’t wanna leave her in that condition. I told her “Hindi pwede!” When she thought it was taking too long to hail a transport she kept telling me “Sorry ha! babawi na lang ako sayo bukas.” We made sure we were going home but while in the car, in the middle of our travel, I heard this song from the radio:

I thought she was the one, and there was no other chance - that if i bring her home, my family would not agree of her - so I pictured eurotel as a second option. On going to eurotel, we stayed there and saw an old man with his friends. The old man tried to go out, but before he was able to open the door I said, “Lika na” and we went out to go home and make her stay in my house where she can rest for a while. I hailed a taxi cab, and when we arrived home I saw my nephew and called him, “Prince!” but he kept looking down and did not answer. We went upstairs, and I brought her to my room laid her on the bed and then washed her feet. She said she felt so cold so I took my blanket but decided that I wanted to hug her. I put my hand around her, and as I pat her I decided to get a comforter but she asked me, “Bakla ka ba?” I said, “Huh? Hinde.” She giggled, “Bakla ka yata eh!” Sabi ko “Bakit?” Then, I kissed her. While we were kissing, she paused and then asked me why I was kissing her. I told her I don’t know, and then I paused. She asked if I do this often. I said no. I told her I was a virgin downstairs, and then thought for a while and I asked her if I was a virgin. Then she laughed and said I don’t know about you. I told her to change her shirt and then she agreed. I was suppose to give her the buttweiser shirt, but I gave her the American shirt instead, then I kissed her again and we loved each other.

This is an oath for Abigail Santos.
